CHEERY DOGS Dog Training

My Dog Training Philosophy:

I believe when we take a dog into our home we have a responsibility to try and understand this particular dog as an individual, and adapt our training methods to help the dog to be successful.

I use positive methods (food treats, toys, praise) to reward the dog for desirable behaviors. Most dogs blossom with positive training, people enjoy using these training methods too.

Dogs are never stubborn or obstinate, usually, they simply do not understand what we want them to do. Or, of course, they may be distracted and interested in doing something else! It is then our job to train them more, make ourselves more interesting and help them to succeed.

I never use physical punishments, loud voice corrections, choke chains, leash corrections, rolling the dog on his/her back or any aversive methods. I have never found these methods to be successful and it is not how I want to treat any dog I work with.

I do believe in having fun when I am helping people to train their dog. Dogs sense the moods of people around them, I want dogs I work with to feel happy. I like to see dogs eager to work and have fun with us. I like to see families having fun and enjoying their dogs too!
